Boy what a year 2020 and 2021 was. But realizations and renewal come from the most challenging times in our life. Yes we’ve “gone virtual”. It’s hard to find people who look you in the eye and honestly WANT to help. In my business transactions, I sure notice when someone offers to help me, listens to me and genuinely cares.
Your headshot is your virtual handshake
Your prospects and target audience often see your HEADSHOT before they see YOU in person or on Zoom calls. It’s important to share a CURRENT headshot online. Share it on your social media platforms, of course, but don’t forget about your email signature and business cards. When I look at business cards with a headshot, I always keep those and discard many of them with logos instead. I still want to work with PEOPLE and I value when their headshot is shown on the cards. Having the headshot on the card helps me remember the person who gave it to me far more than a logo would.
Your headshot should promote positive energy (virtually)
Yes, people can FEEL the energy you promote in your headshots. Not only is your body language conveying energy, so is your expression and the light used. Using natural light that lights the ENTIRE scene is perfect in promoting positive, abundant energy. And your headshot ARE about energy and “law of attraction”. So FILL your headshot scene with LIGHT and you will pump a lot of positive energy into them.
Your zoom headshot profile picture matters
When you first go into your zoom (or video) call, what is it that people see? Your profile image. The profile image is also what is shown before you “start video” or have to pause video for a bit. Make sure this profile image is AS GOOD if not better than the one you put on LinkedIn and other platforms. People notice.
Use video to TALK directly to your clients
We’ve recently started using a video platform called BombBomb, which allows us to do quick video “chats” via text or email. And boy, have we noticed a positive difference in the reaction from our clients. These video messages are PERSONALIZED and we talk directly to our clients BY name. The videos take less time than actually writing out an email, and are much better received. We use the videos to congratulate our clients when their proofs have posted and tell them “great job”. We use the videos to explain (otherwise) rather complicated information (such as retouching). And often we use the videos to JUST say THANK YOU. Use video to in your email blasts
Looking to increase your clicks in your email blasts? Add videos of you talking directly to your clients. Offer video TIPS about your email topic. Use video to announce a new THEME for the year. And seeing you SPEAK and interact directly with your audience will be far more interesting than reading copy.
Don’t worry if your video messages aren’t “perfect”
Your prospects and clients just want to see you. And, you’ll be more relatable if you AREN’T perfect. And, guess what? Relatability over looks, wins EVERY time.
