The Top 10 Questions You Should Ask Your Photographer

Denver headshots for women

Ladies, before booking a photoshoot, make sure you know the The Top 10 Questions You Should Ask Your Photographer!

Read on to see how the team at Kelly Weaver Photography answers these questions and why they are important.

1. How do you help me feel comfortable if I don’t like being photographed?

You must be able to feel a connection with someone in order to let your guard down and let your personality shine. We begin to foster that connection immediately with a quick, 15 minute chat to see if we are a good fit! Helping you to feel at ease is our top priority. That in addition to Kelly’s years of training on posing, lighting and wardrobe tips make the experience empowering and fun!

2. Do you help me decide what to wear?

Yes, absolutely!  At Kelly Weaver Photography we believe in prepping you the best we can for your photoshoot. That includes listening to your needs and vision, then offering you personalized wardrobe tips! We also have several videos on our You Tube channel that are full of outfit inspiration! Once your booking is finalized, we will send you an email confirmation with additional wardrobe tips. Included in our Personal Branding Package is personalized Zoom Wardrobe Consultation.

3. What if I don’t have any key wardrobe pieces?

Don’t worry! We are excited to be teaming up with a local woman’s boutique, J Claire, only two blocks from our Mainstreet studio, who will pick clothes FOR YOUR SESSION and have them ready for you when you arrive!

In addition to wardrobe help, for our Personal Branding clients we also offer on site makeup! This is great for a fresh, natural look when you want to simply take your makeup up a notch from what you normally do.

For all our clients we also include the Light Retouching in all of our packages to smooth any fly away hairs or blemishes!

 4. How long does a session take?

Our sessions will vary. Headshot sessions are quick, and we get these done in 30 minutes! For Personal Branding photoshoots you will want to plan for a couple of hours for both the shoot itself and the prep beforehand and afterwards. We usually take up to three hours on site, not including makeup and the Reveal Session.

 5. When do I get to see my proofs?

You will get to view a sneak peak your proofs RIGHT after the session in our Reveal Session for Personal Branding! You may not get to see all your images, however they whole set will be ready to view within 1-2 business days after your competed session. Every other session gets the proofs emailed to you within 1-2 business days, we are speedy and know you are excited to see them!

You will be emailed a link to your private proofs gallery that will be available for one week so you can view and select which images you wish to order.

 6. When do I get my final images?

Once you finalize and submit your image order, our team begins to work on it right away! In most cases you can expect to receive your Digital files in about 3-5 days. We are able to offer a quick turnaround utilizing our order processing team!

7. Will there be options for me to have my photos retouched or edited?

Yes! We offer Light Retouching in all our packages. This will include the smoothing of any fly away hairs, light smoothing of the skin or blemishes, and whitening of teeth if desired! We offer Enhanced ReTouching as an add-on service for those who would like more edits including clothing mishaps or larger edits.

8. How often do you recommend getting new headshots?

We recommend getting fresh Headshot images at least once a year! This not only keeps you relevant and engaged in your branding, but this also gives you a wide selection of images to choose from across all your platforms! We make it easy to add variety to your image library!

 9. Do I need to LOSE WEIGHT before I come in?

No. You do not have to worry about losing weight or even how to pose. Kelly Weaver uses her experience in posing your body to help your confidence take center stage. Expert posing advice, wardrobe and the lighting used will be all you need to feel your best!

 10. Where would the photoshoot happen? Do you have a commercial space?

This is an important question that should be asked because it is one way to sort the professional photographers from the hobbyists.  There are very few photographers that now take photography seriously enough that they dedicate their full-time job to their craft. Those that have a commercial space are often those who are serious and will be in business for years to come.

The difference between photographers who professionals and those who are hobbyists show in the results.
