Tips on how to create a successful dating profile session

Before your photo session date:

1. Get support from a Professional

What kind of professional you might ask?

  • Therapist/Counselor: Communicate what has and hasn’t been working in past relationships and if you are feeling stuck. If you continue to bring in previous baggage, your new relationships will never work.
  • Dating Coach: Talk about who YOU are as well as who you want to ATTRACT. Then, if needed, get the coach to help you write the copy to attract that very person.
  • Wardrobe Consultant: Yes, what you WEAR to your photo session matters and conveys a message about how you take care of yourself. Your style communicates a LOT about you, down to the SHOES you wear. If you can’t afford to hire a professional wardrobe consultant, go to any NORDSTROM store and ask to see a wardrobe stylist. They will help you pick your outfits for FREE and they have been professionally trained.
  • Makeup Artist: Ladies, we can connect you with a PRO makeup artist. We advise if you go that direction, that you keep it very natural. You may wish to do a trial run before your session date.
  • Hair Stylist: Now is now the time to do something drastic. Just be sure you love your hairstyle, it reflects who you are and that you get it cut/colored 2-3 weeks prior to your session. Ladies, you can get a blow out if you’ve done it before and loved it, but don’t try something new for the FIRST time prior to your session.

2. Pamper yourself with a little self care

Take some time just for you.

  • Go to a spa
  • Get outside for some fresh air
  • Read an inspirational book. We recommend “Take Time for your Life” by Cheryl Richardson
  • Listen to music you love
  • Try Yoga or meditation

3. Set your intention

Yes, it’s all about law of attraction and what you are thinking SHOWS on your face. I always tell my clients that the camera acts as a MIRROR and reflects back to you what you are saying in your head. Here’s a trick to try if you find yourself feeling negative. Think of ONE thing you love about yourself. Let’s say that’s your hair. Then the moment you start hearing those negative thoughts, just say to yourself, “I LOVE my HAIR”.

4. Do this for YOU!

I understand that doing this dating profile photo session is to help you attract the right person. But if you come into the session trying to “please others”, it won’t work. Success will result if YOU love the pictures!

5. Step in (even if you feel nervous)

Ever play a sport? Remember before a big game, how the nerves kicked in? Here’s the good news. The same chemicals get released in your body when you feel NERVOUS as when you are EXCITED! So, when you start feeling the “pre-game butterflies” just tell yourself, “I guess I’m just excited”. And by the way, I will HELP YOU!! I will completely direct the session from your head to your toes. So no need to worry about what to do with your hands, or where to look, or how to stand. I’ve got you!
