Being Authentically YOU in Your Headshots

How to Appear Authentic in Your Headshot Photos
Kelly Weaver of Kelly Weaver Photography, and Kristin Kelly, Style Coach, teamed up this spring to share their top tips on how to appear authentic in your headshots! Read on to discover some of the tips talked about in the video lessons that will help cultivate the perfect experience for your own photo shoot! Keep the following tips in mind as you plan for your session!

Props and Accessories

Using props or accessories to speak to your personality or brand will help current and future clients immediately recognize you! This is an easy way to appear authentic in your headshots. Do you have a signature piece of jewelry or favorite piece of clothing that is a staple in your wardrobe?  Be sure to include it in your pictures!  Let the items you choose; whether it be a favorite scarf, a special bracelet or even a glass of wine, help to tell the story of who YOU are.

Your Favorite Jewelry

Give your hands something to do!  A watch or ring can help you comfortably pose your hands and when you are comfortable, that will shine through.  When you are choosing your jewelry, think outside of the box!  If you are in a business  career;  that might look like simple, classic jewelry while a creative type may choose big and bold!

Your Brand Color

Using color can be another way to help tell your story.  Have you ever had someone ask you if if you are a Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter?  Knowing your season color can help you choose clothes that are the most complimentary for you and will help you feel more confident in your clothing choices.  When you wear colors that compliment your season and personality, you become more recognizable to your current and future clients.

Your Clothing Choices

Does your business or company have their own line of swag? Wear it in your photos! Or if you have a signature style that you gravitate towards every day, include some of those some pieces in your photoshoot!  Not only will your current and future clients recognize YOU, but they will begin to recognize your brand as well.
