Your Personal Branding Photography Session
The “Weight” is Over: Why Now is the Perfect Time for Your Branding Photos
If I had a dollar for every time a brilliant woman over 50 told me, “I’ll book my session as soon as I lose 10 pounds,” I’d have retired to a beach in Hawaii by now.
I get it. We live in a culture that tells us to shrink as we age. But as a personal branding photographer (and a woman who understands the “highly sensitive” side of life), I’m here to tell you that waiting for a number on the scale is actually costing you business.
I grew up in a family that was VERY “diet conscious”. Literally MIRRORS on every wall, so you couldn’t go anywhere without “sizing yourself up.” And let’s not mention the INDUSTRIAL sized scale in the bathroom (again WITH MIRRORS), so you could judge yourself AND weigh yourself at the same time.
As a 62 year old woman, I now catch myself body shaming many times as I pass mirrors. But then I say to myself ‘whose VOICE is that?” Not mine, it was my parents voice. Now I can CHOOSE my voice.
I love photographing women. I love the connection we create and I love to be the photo and BODY positive coach. Why? Because I’ve been there.
Here are three reasons why you are “camera-ready” exactly as you are today.
1. That “Fullness” is Your Secret Weapon
Think back to Rose in Titanic. There’s a reason she looked so radiant—it was that youthful, healthy fullness in her face. As we move into our 50s and beyond, a little extra weight is actually a natural filler. It softens lines and gives you a “glow” that no amount of Botox can replicate. You aren’t “heavy”; you’re luminous.
2. Styling the Curves You Have
You don’t need a new body for a great photo; you just need the right silhouette. I’m a huge fan of the wrap dress or structured layers that define the waist and celebrate feminine curves.
My job is to pose you from head to toe—literally guiding your fingertips to your chin—to ensure you look polished, professional, and powerful. We aren’t hiding you; we’re highlighting you.
My #1 go-to is a simple black v-neck top. The perfect choice to compliment every woman I photograph.

3. Proof That You’re Already Enough
There is a profound psychological shift that happens when you see a professional portrait of yourself looking approachable, relatable, and confident. Often, my clients look at their gallery and realize, “Oh, I actually look great. I don’t need to lose weight to be the face of my company.” That confidence boost does more for your marketing than a diet ever could.
A Different Kind of Studio Experience

I know the idea of a photoshoot can feel vulnerable. As an introvert and a highly sensitive person, I’ve designed my Littleton studio to be a sanctuary, not a spotlight.
-
The Atmosphere: Think “Commercial Spa.” It’s warm, cozy, and filled with natural light from floor-to-ceiling windows.
-
The Soundtrack: We’ll have the best 80s hits playing to keep the energy light and nostalgic.
-
The Guidance: You don’t have to “know how to model.” I am with you every second, directing your movement so you feel supported, not judged.
-
The Results: You’re busy running an empire. I’ll have your proofs and final images ready in just days, not weeks.
Your clients want to see the woman behind the wisdom. They aren’t looking for a number on a scale—they’re looking for YOU.

Here are some styling tips for Your Personal Branding Session
How to look approachable, relatable, and timeless (without the stress).
1. The Magic of Structure
At 50+, fabric choice is everything. We want materials that hold their shape and celebrate your silhouette.
-
The Power of the Wrap: A classic wrap dress is a photographer’s best friend. It creates a defined waist and a beautiful V-neckline that elongates the frame.
-
Tailored Layers: A well-fitted blazer or a structured trench can instantly “frame” your look. It adds a level of professional authority while smoothing out the lines of the body.
-
Avoid “The Tent”: It’s tempting to wear oversized clothing to hide, but on camera, extra fabric actually makes you look larger. Trust in the fit!
2. Color Theory for Your Skin Tone
As we evolve, the colors that worked for us at 25 might need an update. As a certified color analyst, I’ll be sure to help you pick the right “color season” and colors that compliment.

-
The “Approachable” Palette: Rich jewel tones (emerald, sapphire, plum) look incredible on almost every skin tone and photograph with a “premium” feel.
-
Neutrals with a Twist: Instead of stark black (which can sometimes look heavy against the skin), try navy, charcoal, or chocolate brown. They provide the same “slim” effect but with a softer, more radiant finish.
-
The “Pop”: Choose a color that makes your eyes dance. If you have blue eyes, a touch of teal or soft blue in a scarf or blouse can do wonders.
3. Necklines and Jewelry
Since your face is the star of the show, let’s frame it wisely.
-
Open Up: V-necks, scoop necks, or boat necks open up the chest area and make you look taller and more “open” to your clients.
-
Statement vs. Simple: If you love a statement necklace, go for it! But if you’re feeling nervous, simple pearls or gold hoops are timeless and don’t distract from your expression.
-
Eyewear: If you wear glasses daily, wear them! Just make sure they are clean. We want to see those eyes.

4. The “Comfort” Factor (The Secret Sauce)
If you feel restricted, it will show in your face.
-
Undergarments: Never underestimate the power of high-quality shapewear or a well-fitted bra. It’s the foundation of every great photo.
-
The Feet: Even if we aren’t shooting your feet, wear shoes that make you stand tall. However, since my studio has cozy hardwood floors, feel free to bring your favorite flats for the “in-between” moments!
A Note From Kelly…
“I know that choosing an outfit can feel like the hardest part of the process. Remember, I pose you from head to toe. I’m looking at the way the light hits your sleeve and how your collar sits so you don’t have to. We are a team!”

My sessions are designed to be a “spa-like” experience where the 80s music is playing, the natural light is glowing, and you are the priority. Let’s create images that make you feel as powerful as you truly are.
