How COVID changed my Littleton Senior Photography business

Denver Senior Photographer

Boy what a year 2020 was. But blessings come from the most challenging times in our life. Sitting back, I realize just how Covid changed my Littleton Senior Photography business in all the best ways. And, how it supported what we believe in and how we treat our seniors and their families.

Connection matters

Seniors, and teens in general, have had it rough lately. Separated from friends, the classroom, sports, clubs and gatherings. They’ve had to cover their faces at a time when they are as “fresh faced” as ever. Though I’ve been photographing seniors for 18 years, I feel NOW is the time to really show the seniors they are VALUED, SEEN, noticed and appreciated. We do this by asking them questions, and connecting on the things they love. I’m surprised how many times we both LOVE the same things. Often, you will hear me talk about movies and music just to bring out the things we have in common. When a senior feels connected, that’s when the magic happens on their FACE and through their eyes.

Look at Lane’s eyes here. Notice how he is connecting with the lens? There’s no way that Lane would have shown me this side of him, had he not felt a connection.

With Ethan, we connected with his spirituality, caring-side and edgier style. This image was taken off-center to reflect Ethan’s more artistic side. Again, notice his EYES and how they are connecting.

Walking through the process together

Lately I sure have heard this a lot when trying to work through a new process:

“go to this website and read the article on that”

“we don’t offer phone support, you can do a live chat”

“you can email us or send us a support ticket”

What? Where are the people? Gone are the days of full-service gas stations (okay I’m dating myself), but I miss them. I miss full-service, talking to people, getting the help I need. Going through these frustrations made me understand how my clients must feel being treated similarly by other senior photographers, hearing, “here is a thumb drive, go figure it out”. The clients hearing this then have to figure out how to crop and create final prints from only consumer labs, with little or NO photography experience. There is a LOT that goes into getting professional prints and products. That is why we believe it’s OUR responsibility to help the seniors and parents ALL the way through the entire process. And that includes walking them through the order process and deliver PRO items from PRO labs. We will never throw files at you and tell you to do it yourself. Every package will include what we call our CORE 4 included items

Do what is MEANINGFUL not EXPEDITIOUS

Today is a world of “do it fast”. But where is the meaning in that? Our goal is the relationships we create with our seniors and senior parents. Yes, it would be easier for US to throw digital files at you, but there’s no relationship that comes from that. And, how likely are you to refer us to your friends if sending you a link to files is ALL we do? We want to walk you through the process. We don’t want you to EVER question how much you matter to us. And we want to know you, connect with your senior and celebrate this time in their lives WITH you.
